Tasting notes:
Painted Wolf The Den Chenin Blanc. Fresh lemon and pear aromas give way to tropical passion fruit on the nose. Crisp acidity and a hint of oak add to the texture and wonderful fruit flavours linger on the palate.
Food Match:
Great with chicken served with a creamy mushroom sauce, or pea and broad bean risotto.
Producer/Region: Painted Wolf The Den Chenin Blanc
In 2006, Emma and Jeremy Borg decided to create a wine company with two main aims – to raise money to build a more hopeful future for endangered African wild dogs and to allow Jeremy to pursue his ambitions as a winemaker, which he has done with great determination and flair.
Creating the company involved many wonderful collaborations with friends from all walks of life, and over the years, with the help of these exceptional people, Painted Wolf Wines has grown to become a leading producer of award winning wines. They now have three distinctive and memorable ranges, are never afraid to try something a little bit off the beaten track and have raised around R4,098,027 (177,078.70 in pounds) and a further considerable sum for social upliftment projects.
Right now, less than 6600 charismatic Painted Wolves survive. Enjoy our equally remarkable wines knowing that you are supporting their future and the last remaining wilderness areas in Africa.
Vineyard/Winemaking:
Grapes were harvested from Leeuwenkuil farm and several other locations in the Swartland. These vineyards are not irrigated, and the vines are primarily bush vines. The Leeuwenkuil grapes were tank fermented using natural yeast and blended with a smaller portion of barrel-fermented wine from old vines in Wellington. Total production 60,000 bottles.
