Product Description

Tasting notes:

The Tea Leaf, WO Western Cape. Aromas of ripe citrus and peach with savoury, gently nutty notes. The palate combines firm, high-key fruit with a gentle, sandy texture, This is true to the source vineyards’ soil leading to a long, lightly honeyed finish. As a result it is a deeply satisfying wine, taut and concentrated, from a blend of high quality bush vine fruit.

Food Match:

Simply cooked fish dishes, scallops, salt & pepper squid or fishcakes, light seafood pasta, risotto, rich salads and sushi.

Producer: The Tea Leaf WO Western Cape

From selected coastal vineyards of Chenin, Grenache Gris and Marsanne where the indigenous rooibos tea plant grows wild. To begin with the grapes are harvested in the early hours. And then a further selection is made by hand at the winery to select the best fruit. The wine is naturally fermented and aged a few months in older 600 litre French oak barrels. No fining and coarse filtered (above 1 micron).

Chenin Blanc originated in France’s Loire Valley, likely in the Anjou subregion. Which today makes the world’s most acclaimed Chenins. The grape’s frontiers have expanded, to South Africa, where it’s also known as steen, as well as to some regions in the U.S., most notably California.

The Western Cape is home to the vast majority of the South African wine industry. And the country’s two most famous wine regions, Stellenbosch and Paarl. The city of Cape Town serves as the epicenter of the Cape Winelands, a mountainous, biologically diverse area in the south-western corner of the African continent.
