Product Description

Tasting notes:

Kleine Oranjerie ‘Flora and Fauna’ Viognier. A classic varietal nose of jasmine, white peach and fruit blossom, with a whiff of white pepper. The palate is generous, and richly flavoured balanced by bright, zingy acidity and with a gingery, textural finish.

Food match:

Thai green curry, Cape Malay curries, goats cheese and roast veg.

Producer/Region:

Working with vines old and new across the Cape, Kleine Oranjerie captures the Cape’s marvellous menagerie of vines in a glass. They are fortunate to source fruit from exceptional sites, from their farm in Franschhoek to the farthest-flung blocks of the Western Cape. All their wines are gently pressed and naturally-fermented the better to express the unique personality and provenance of their wines. They champion old vineyards over 35 years old, some indeed planted in the 1900s. Beneath the mighty dome of the Cape’s wild weather we finesse their wild ferments. Welcome to the small world of Kleine Oranjerie.

The Western Cape is a South African province with coasts bordering the Indian and Atlantic oceans. It’s known for the port city of Cape Town, set beneath Table Mountain, part of a national park of the same name. In Table Bay, Robben Island is the notorious prison that once held Nelson Mandela, and is now a living museum. Farther afield, winelands surround historical towns like Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl
