Tasting notes:
Domaine Daniel Seguinot Chablis. A lean and flinty style that is a signature of the domaine. A clean chalky nose preceeds a beguiling fresh hit of white nectarine and a crackle of citrus and minerality on the palate. The finish is clean, with pleasing steely acidity.
Food Match:
This pairs well with trout stuffed with fresh herbs and grilled on the barbecue.
Producer/Region: Domaine Daniel Seguinot Chablis
In Maligny – as far north in Chablis as you can get – on the right bank of the river Serein, Domaine Daniel Séguinot is a small, 27 hectare estate founded in 1971. It is now run by Daniel’s charming and very switched-on daughters, Emilie and Laurence. Since they took over the running of the business from their father they have been instrumental in the move to domaine-bottled wines, produced without oak in a very pure, linear style.
Maligny is one of the 19 villages that benefit from the world-renowned Chablis wine appellation. Thanks to a privileged South-West sun exposure, our village, leaning against the right bank of the Serein river, provides rich and well balanced wines. Among 5000 ha of planted vineyards, 300 ha sit on the district of Maligny. The village is lucky enough to gather four levels of appellation: Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru Fourchaume and Chablis Premier Cru Homme Mort. As far back as you can go in the family tree, the Seguinot’s have always been working on vineyards.
