Tasting notes: Charles & Charles Chardonnay
Bright pale yellow in colour. The nose presents fresh aromas of pineapple mixed with citrus fruits and mandarin for an aromatic complexity. On the palate it is bright and alive with just the right amount of acidity and a lovley finish.
Food Pairing: Charles & Charles Chardonnay
The well-rounded palate, fruity sensation, and balanced acidity harmonize perfectly with white fish, raw full-bodied fish, and smoked fish such as salmon, tuna, and swordfish, as well as shellfish with texture such as abalone and calamari
Charles and Charles is a collaboration founded in 2008 between Food & Wine Magazine 2014 Winemaker of the year, Charles Smith (Charles Smith Wines) and Charles Bieler (Three Thieves, Gotham Project). The Charles & Charles Chardonnay is a firm, juicy, refreshing Chardonnay that picks up great power and depth in your glass. There are aromas of Pippin apples, jasmine and some citrus along with warm caramel. These flavours intensify on the palate where they are joined by light tropical notes and a streak of minerality on its mid-weight frame. Power meets finesse here.
They have an amazing group of growers with exceptionally tended to vineyards that spread all across the Columbia Valley, from the sandy basins to the higher elevation slopes with ancient soils. The qualities we look for to make exciting Rosé are quite distinct and thus there is not one vineyard whose fruit overlaps with our red wine programs.
