Product Description

Tasting notes:

Boira Sangiovese. Sangiovese comes in many guises in the hands of Italian winemakers and this is given the classic treatment with the added bonus of organic status. Dense, ruby red in colour, intense flavours of juicy black fruit and jam like qualities with undertones of spices, licorice and violets. Harmonious and silky tannins give a well structured body with a luscious, fruit back palate leading to a long lingering finish

Food Match:

Perfect when partnered with spaghetti bolognese, lamb shank and steak Milanese.

Region/Producer:

Cantine Volpi`s wine-making premises are located in Viguzzolo, just outside the Piedmontese town of Tortona. Giuliano Noè has been responsible for the technical side for many years, always aiming at further improvement in the quality. When the wines have completed their initial period of development, they change surrounding for their subsequent maturation and ageing. The cellars where they complete their maturation are located in the out-skirts of Tortona. Where an extensive variety of ageing barrels, stainless steel, large Slavonian oak casks and small French oak barriques are used.

The Marches region stretches east from Tuscany and Umbria to the Adriatic coast. From rolling hills to coastal plain, resulting in marked differences in climate. It is famed for producing Verdicchio wines of richness and great character, seldom found in other Italian white wines. As well as outstanding Montepulciano red wines. Marche`s winemaking heritage spans thousands of years and has been influenced, among others, by the Etruscans, Romans and Lombards. The presence of these various cultures goes a long way to explaining the breadth of vinicultural tradition and wine styles in the region. Due to the influences of the Apennines, the Adriatic and the region`s rivers (the Metauro, Potenza, Tronto and Nera), there are various climates at work in Marche.
