Cramele Recaș is a renowned wine estate located in the Banat region of Western Romania, near the city of Timișoara. The vineyards are among the oldest in the world, with historical records dating back to 1447. Founded in 1998 by Phillip Cox and his Romanian wife Elvira, along with two other families, Cramele Recaș has grown significantly. The vineyards have been restored or replanted since 1999, and the estate now employs sustainable farming practices, with some areas under conversion to organic farming.
The winemaking team includes international experts from Australia, Spain, New Zealand, and Italy, who bring a wealth of experience to the winery. Cramele Recaș produces a variety of wines, including Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio, and Rosé, known for their quality and distinctive flavours.
100% estate grown grapes from our vineyards. Gently destemmed and crushed, the grapes were cold macerated for 2 days at 5°C before being inoculated with selected yeast for the alcoholic fermentation which took 3 weeks at 27°C . Gently pressed, centrifuged and then put through a full malolactic fermentation, the wine was then matured for 3 months with French oak staves.
