Product Description

Tasting notes:

Vina Alberdi, Rioja Reserva. Bright, deep ruby colour with intense dark cherry hues on the rim of the glass. It stands out for its intense ripe red fruit aromas like strawberries, raspberries and redcurrants. Complemented by pleasantly sweet spicy notes of vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. The palate is round, with lively freshness at the start and sweet, supple tannins, leading to a long, fruity and balsamic finish, so characteristic of Viña Alberdi.

Region/Producer:

Named after one of the founding families, Viña Alberdi is made up of 100% Tempranillo. The grapes are grown in the Mayorita, El Bardal and El Rebollar vineyards in Rodezno, and Alto del Rey in Labastida. These sites are located at an elevation of 500 to 600 metres above sea level. And the vines were planted over 40 years ago, on clay-limestone soils. La Rioja Alta is committed to respecting and protecting the environment. In the vineyard, treatments are limited, investments have been made into clean energy sources and water is reused. Insect shelters have been installed in vineyards, promoting environmentally-friendly plant health defence while increasing the biodiversity in the vineyard. The grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness.

After destemming and crushing, the grapes were placed in tanks where alcoholic fermentation and malolactic conversion took place naturally with wild yeasts. The wine was aged for two years in American oak barrels, of which 100% were new during the first year and 4-year old barrels in the second year. Four rackings were carried out in the traditional manner by candlelight.
